In "Fall Season Plant Appreciation Walk – Gifford Park Neighborhood," you'll get an up-close view of a variety of landscape plants (with a focus on trees and shrubs) that will enhance your ability to really “see” the beauty of nature in more depth and detail. We will cover basic plant identification skills and discuss the aesthetic and functional characteristics of plants as well as their potential cultural/medicinal/edible features. In addition, we will discuss the appropriate roles and uses of plants in urban landscapes that can reduce maintenance costs, increase plant longevity and ecological value, and enhance human health and restoration. By the end of this class, you’ll have the basic knowledge and skills to identify some typical landscape plants, see and appreciate more details and seasonal beauty in nature, and better understand how human health can be enhanced through landscape experiences.
