String art is an arrangement of string strung between nails to form patterns or designs on a wooden board. String art has its origins in the "curve stitch" activities invented by Mary Everest Boole at the end of the 19th century. It was popularized as a decorative craft in the late 1960s through kits and books, and has seen a resurgence in popularity in the last few years. Complete a pumpkin design on an 18" pine wood round that has been stained and sealed. A rope hanger will be attached at the end of class. All supplies included (18" pine wood round, nails, yarn and a pattern). Students may customize their string art pumpkin by selecting varieties of orange or cream yarn. Cider and snacks will be provided. The instructor is Lexie Frahm. (one session)
