Have a relaxing day by touring the “First City of Kansas”, established in 1854. Special points of interest include Fred Harvey’s Home, Carroll Mansion, the renovated Union Depot, Ripley’s “Believe It or Not’ Chapel and Fort Leavenworth. These and othersites will be explored, plus enjoy a catered meal served by ladies dressed as “Harvey Girls” in the Riverfront Center housed in the historic 1888 Union Depot. First, visit the C W Carousel Museum and ride a carousel that is over one hundred years old. After a delicious lunch, depart for Carroll Mansion. A visit to this mansion is like a "step back in time". This 1867 Victorian house features elaborate handcrafted woodwork throughout the house, beautiful stained glass windows and elegant antiques from the Victorian age era to the early 20th century. Then, enjoy time-on-your-own shopping in downtown Leavenworth at venders like Candle Queen Gift Boutique and Picket Fences & Petals.

Next, receive a guided tour of Fort Leavenworth, built in 1827; it became known in American History for its role as a key supply base in the settlement of the American West. It's the only continuously active fort west of the Appalachian Mountains. Among numerous historical sites, there is visible evidence of a cut in the terrain that was made by heavy-laden wagons pulled by teams of oxen as they journeyed west on the Oregon and Santa Fe Trails. Another feature of this trip is exploring, with our step-on-guide, the neighborhoods of Leavenworth. There will be a stop at a fast food restaurant on the way back to campus.

Cost paid to MCC includes bus transportation, step-on-guide, "Harvey Girls" luncheon (including tax and gratuity), the C W Carousel Museum, Carroll Mansion tour, Fort Leavenworth tour, and the guided tour of Leavenworth.
