Did you know that there is a rich history of herbal cultivation and use in the land that surrounds us? We live in a rich agricultural landscape, enjoying the benefits that modern research and technology have provided. But occasionally, we might take a step back into time and appreciate the history that is also tied to the land beneath our feet.

Learn a bit about Fort Atkinson, the first military establishment west of the Mississippi, and its contribution to the first attempts at agriculture in the region, out of necessity. Visit the Fort's historical garden, and learn about the vegetables and herbs planted in the 1800s.

You'll learn some local history, some botany, and some traditional uses for locally growing herbs — still useful today!
Fee: $20.00
