A beginning sewing class for ages 8-11 and an adult to learn basic hand and machine skills. Students will learn how to thread and use a sewing machine, understand pattern pieces, sew on buttons and install a zipper. The weekly projects are simple and designed to help students understand the process of construction. The adult is getting a “sewing refresher” along the way and will guide the young student with operating a sewing machine and ironing. The adult will also be able to help the students complete their projects at home and spend quality time together learning. Projects planned will include a pillowcase, pajama bottom, simple tote bag, a doll or teddy bear outfit and a hoodie with a front zipper. The instructor is Debra Carlson.
