Depart for the Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend, IA. The Grotto was a vision of Father Paul Dobberstein of Rosenfeld, Germany. The largest man-made Grotto in the world, the Grotto is frequently called "the Eighth Wonder of the World." The Grotto stands as a testimony in stone, a treasured work of art. You'll receive a guided tour to each of the nine grottos which contains a scene in the life of Christ hand-carved from Italian Carrara Marble. Covering an entire city block, the Grotto represents the largest collection of precious and semi-precious rocks, minerals, and fossils concentrated in any one spot in the world. Don't miss the Christmas Chapel, located in Sts. Peter and Paul Church next to the Grotto. Built in 1929, the Chapel contains rocks from every country and major rivers in the world. A 300 pound Amethyst adorning the nativity scene is also one of the famous features of the Chapel along with an award winning hand-carved bird's eye maple alter. The beautiful artistry has to be seen in order to be appreciated, and the message it inspires is beyond words! Make sure that you bring your camera. The Grotto has been on the History Channel and has been described as a "Miracle in Stone." Later, receive a guided tour of West Bend's Historic Museum and Sites. Take a stroll down memory lane while your guide takes you through a replica sod house, post office, country school, and newly built museum. Coffee and a pastry will be served at the conclusion of the tour.

Another special stop will be the Harker House in Storm Lake, IA. For a unique step back in time receive a guided tour of this 1875 Victorian mansion. Built in French (Mansard) Style, this home impresses with its open porches, beautiful brick walkway, and imposing widow's walk.
