During the Prohibition Era both Omaha and Kansas City were considered "wide open towns" where crime and corruption flourished, and the industrial cities of the Midwest fused with the art and excesses of the Jazz Age. Join us for a comparitive history of these two cities and the "two Toms" that ruled them; Tom Dennison of Omaha, Nebraska and Tom Pendergast of Kansas City, Missouri. Through the topic of the "two Toms" we will examine topics such as "bossism" and civic corruption, the legacy of Prohibition in the Midwest, and the lasting legacies of the Dennison and Pendergast machines in their respective cities.
Fee: $25.00
