If you’re planning to participate in the 4-H dog program, this is the place for you. Whether it’s your first year or final year in 4-H, discover detailed and precision skills that you can practice year-round to improve your performance in the 4-H ring. Your dog will be practicing recalls, leash manners as well as learning “sit” and “down” on command and staying in a sit and down position with controlled distractions. Build on these basic skills to train precision heeling, teach about rally cards, discuss questions that a judge may ask in showmanship, as well as ways you can practice for agility. At the first class, your dog must be wearing a buckle collar. Your dog will also need a 4-6 ft. leather or nylon leash (flexi-leads, chain leashes and harnesses are not permitted). Bring plenty of your dog’s favorite treats. To remain in class, you must bring proof that your dog has had rabies, distemper and parvo vaccinations to the first class. Children with a valid driver’s license may join class without an adult. This is a parent/child class. Only the child must register.
