Design, build and fly! Students will build their very own quadcopter drones from scratch using components such as brushed DC motors, flight-controller boards, motor mounts, and transmitters. They will begin by learning about the different parts of a drone and how drones are designed to achieve compromises between speed, acrobatics, and stability. Along the way, students will conduct a variety of experiments to learn how vehicles take flight and what forces are in play. After they have learned about the principles of force and motion, they will put them to use as they design & build their drones. Students will exercise their creativity and problem-solving skills?while reviewing key science concepts, and then the students will polish their piloting skills as they fly their drones. And the best part? They get to take home their drones and controllers to continue the fun! (ages 10-12)
