This introductory course explores the fundamental techniques and expressive possibilities of watercolor painting. Students will learn essential skills such as brush handling, color mixing, layering, washes, and composition through hands-on projects and guided exercises. Emphasis will be placed on developing personal expression while understanding the unique qualities of watercolor as a medium. Coursework includes still life, landscape, and abstract studies, as well as experimentation with mixed media. No prior painting experience is required—this course is designed for beginners with an interest in visual art. Studio work is supported by critiques, demonstrations, and discussions of historical and contemporary watercolor practices.
