Sound Bites explores the powerful connection between what we hear and what we taste. Participants will experience a guided, resonance-based sound meditation paired with tantalizing amuse-bouche, bite-sized delights from the Institute for the Culinary Arts crafted to awaken the palate. This immersive experience blends science, art, and mindfulness, inviting you to amuse your senses and reconnect with your body. Discover how activating the parasympathetic nervous system enhances both digestion and overall nourishment, all through the interplay of music and flavor.

Notes:

Please wear long hair pulled back, long loose pants and sleeves, and closed-toe shoes. Arrive through the east doors to the Lobby of the Institute for the Culinary Arts (Building 22 of MCC's Fort Omaha Campus) 15 minutes before class starts.

Douglas Chrisman

Doug Chrisman has been cooking professionally since high school, throughout a wide array of foodservice sectors. In August of 2022, an opportunity came up to join the team of full-time faculty instructors at the Institute for Culinary Arts at Metropolitan Community College. At the ICA he is teaching a variety of courses while nurturing a passion for helping students harness their full potential.

Anna Hartman

Anna Hartman is a freelance writer and editor who adores mise en place, eats, drinks, and outdoorsy activities. She fell in love with the Institute for the Culinary Arts over a decade ago through community education classes, which led to completion of the culinary credit program in 2020. Since 2018, Anna has fulfilled several support roles at Metropolitan Community College, most recently as beverage steward and writer.
