At Teaching, Learning, and Technology Roundtables (TLTR), faculty collaborate to address shared teaching challenges, dicuss current and emerging instructional technologies, and build knowledge of effective instructional strategies.

TLTRs meet on select Thursdays, 3-4 p.m., at varying campus locations and/or on Zoom.

Moderated by David Bentz and Jessica Del Monaco, Instructional Design Services, and Naomi Mardock Uman, Faculty Development.

June's topic: Digital Accessibility Essentials for MCC

In this session, we will discuss general digital accessibility principles that represent minimum requirements for MCC courses. These principles apply across all formats; including Canvas pages, documents or presentations uploaded to Canvas, or external content such as third-party publisher materials. The basic principles covered will include:

  • Accessible text
  • Font size, style, and use of color
  • Accessible page structure
  • Heading styles, paragraphs, lists, tables, etc.
  • Accessible hyperlinks
  • Alternative text for images, graphics, etc.
  • Closed captioning and transcripts for video and audio content.
