Biotechnology Fundamentals prepares learners for entry-level roles in the biotechnology industry. Participants learn how biotechnology laboratories operate, how to follow safety protocols, and how to use common laboratory equipment. Through hands-on activities, students practice basic techniques such as measuring, preparing solutions, handling materials safely, and keeping accurate records using standard industry practices. Learners also build professional skills needed to obtain and maintain employment through resume and interview practice, development of teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, and completion of OSHA 10 safety training. The course includes an externship that provides real-world experience and exposure to industry expectations, where learners observe workplace practices and apply what they have learned.
