String Art Workshop: Merry and Bright Tree Sign
String art is an arrangement of string strung between nails to form patterns or designs on a wooden board. String art has its origins in the “curve stitch” activities invented by Mary Everest Boole at the end of the 19th century. It was popularized as a decorative craft in the late 1960s through kits and books and has seen a resurgence in popularity in the last few years. Complete a holiday design on an 11x20 inch piece of wood stained and sealed. A rope hanger will be attached at the end of class. Students will string a tree with a star and stencil paint the words “merry” and “bright” with snowflakes. All supplies are included. Cider, eggnog and cookies will be provided. The instructor is Lexie Frahm. Visit our pinterest page to see a picture of this project. (one session)
