Foundations: Knife Skills

Knife skills—you need them to be successful as a cook. This course will change your game in the kitchen for the rest of your life. Learn proper knife handling, classic knife cuts and how to utilize them in your kitchen at home. Chef instructors will demonstrate proper cuts, and provide real time feedback on your cuts, via Zoom video.

Notes:

Students can choose to pick up an food supply/ingredient kit from MCC for the cost of $20 (due at time of registration) or they may choose to purchase their own supplies. Ingredient kits will be available for pick-up at the MCC Fort Omaha campus. Pick up and/or supply list information will be sent to students via email prior to the class start date.

Ingredients Needed

  • Carrots: 2 each
  • Zucchini: 1 each
  • Potato: 1 or 2 each
  • Onion: 1 each
  • Garlic: at least 3 cloves
  • Spinach or basil: 1 bunch
  • Celery: 2 stalks
Students must provide their own kitchen equipment. Must be 16 or older. Students will utilize the Zoom conferencing application to complete this course. Zoom meeting invitations will be sent via email at least one day prior to the class start date. Students must provide a valid email address to receive the meeting invitation to enter the Zoom virtual classroom.
