Learn how to make costume armor using simple foam mats! Turn ordinary anti-fatigue hardware floor mats into realistic-looking fantasy and sci-fi armor with a little heat, a little glue, and a can-do attitude! Students will create usable forearm bracers, shoulder pauldrons, and helmet made in the class that they can then paint and decorate themselves.

Brittney Gohr

Brittney Gohr is also known as Buttery Rose Cosplay+ in the Midwestern cosplay community. She has won several awards for her skills in cosplay including craftmanship, convention floor, performance, and the coveted Best-In-Show at numerous conventions throughout the Midwest such as Anime Nebraskon and Planet Comicon. She has also been published in numerous articles and cosplay magazines for her many costumes and she takes great pride in her creativity, problem solving, and skill. Between these accolades and a total following of nearly 5,600 fans (and growing) across several social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, she has earned the respect and acknowledgement from her cosplay peers and convention personnel (and made plenty of friends from among those!) Self-proclaimed “Jack of all trades,” she is skilled in many facets and materials in the crafting of cosplay including fabrics & textiles, foam work, thermal plastics, and theatrical make-up & effects. She enjoys sharing her knowledge with the next generation of cosplayers and even seasoned veterans who may not be as knowledgeable in certain mediums. She likes watching these new cosplayers learn, grow, and blossom into the character they always wanted to be!
