This course will give an introduction to the fungal kingdom and its intricacies. Students will learn how to confidently identify at least 6 edible species and learn about the ecology and identification of many other others. Additionally, students will learn how to take photos of the important features of mushrooms for identification using Inaturalist. By the end of the course you should understand what a mushroom is, how they fit into the fungal kingdom, and how to identify major genera of fungi. We will try to go outside as much as possible so long as the weather is ideal for fungal growth. Class meets Monday from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Fort Omaha Campus, then Sunday from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Hummel Park Day Camp, 9200 John J. Pershing Drive.
