Explore the age old, lost art of stone carving a sculpture with hand chisels and hammer. Learn the basics involved in the traditional process of working with a block of limestone, understand historical references, and get tips through technical demos. Each week will have a scheduled lesson, from dimensional roughing out, to carving in the round, to finishing and mounting a finished sculpture. Bring safety glasses, a dusk mask, apron, a pair of gloves and wear closed-toe shoes to class. Hand tools and hammers will be provided.
