To capitalize on the skills, experience, and unique perspectives each employee brings to our organization, we must ensure that the workplace provides each an opportunity to develop their potential and contribute to the success of the organization.

An important step in creating a workplace that values diversity is training for supervisors and managers, as well as training for all employees. As supervisors we have a responsibility to ensure all feel welcomed and that employee contributions are valued in a workplace absent from discrimination and harassment. An additional benefit of diversity training is that it may help reduce claims of discrimination or harassment.

The primary goal of this session is to facilitate understanding of the importance of diversity in the workplace and how supervisors support benefits everyone. By the end of the session, you should be able to identify how we are diverse; understand the benefits and opportunities of a diverse workforce; help avoid discrimination and harassment in the workplace; and follow the laws and the organization's policy regarding workplace diversity and discrimination.
