This session will provide In-service training for Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) on the appropriate handling of victim relations and support, and reporting a crime that they have witnessed, or that a student has confided to them.

  • The Clery Act establishes CSAs comprised of faculty and staff members who are unaffiliated with the MCC Police Department, with significant responsibilities for student and campus activities.
  • The intent of including non law enforcement personnel in the role of a CSA is to acknowledge that some campus community members, students in particular, may be hesitant about reporting a crime to MCC Police, but may be more inclined to confide with other campus affiliated individuals.
  • CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that they witness or that have been confided to them. The outcome of their report becomes part of the aggregate statistical information in MCC's Annual Campus Security Report.
  • The MCC Police Department is available to assist CSAs, staff, students, and visitors regarding any safety related matter.
