The ability to give constructive feedback productively is one of the most important skills for any supervisor. When an employee's choice clashes with organization or departmental needs, an effective supervisor can give constructive feedback that results in an employee-centered approach. The goal of any constructive feedback is to encourage the employee to take appropriate steps to improve their own actions and behaviors. The approach includes:

  • Two-way communication

  • Clear reasons for behavior change

  • Collaborative solutions and actions

  • Focus on the outcome and keep employee motivation high


This course will also include real situation skills practice & receiving feedback.

Lori Smith

Helping others succeed has been a life's work for Lori M. Smith, SHRM-SCP, SPHR and President of Capstone Coaching & Consulting, Inc. She has been providing consulting, team development and leadership skills training in the corporate setting since 1985.

Lori has worked for small corporations of 60 employees to companies of more than 47,000 employees. Her efforts assisted one organization in reducing turnover by 32% and increasing revenue per associate by 60% in four years.
